They’re built into the BI, they don’t cost any more. I could be wrong but I think it was something like 2 years ago they stopped doing the traditional rebuys.

Are the rebuy chips built in to the initial $1500 BI or are they true additional rebuys that cost more? I’m thinking about working on my MTT game and maybe giving this a go next year.

One of the biggest things is playing the same hands in the same positions all of the time, and not adjusting for the different player types at the tables. A lot of people play like robot. That used to be good enough, but these days I think you need to go beyond that.

Yes, there is a section that discusses learning to hand read by playing heads up SNG’s. There isn’t a section specifically on heads up cash.

I replied in an email, but I’ll post it here as well for everyone to see:

1) With a hand like 3456 I really want to be heads up. I’ll open this from late position if I am the first person to put money in the pot, and there aren’t any super loose players in the blinds. If you end up multi-way there aren’t going to be many flops you can continue on. You could consider isolating versus a single limper, but not too often because there is an increased chance of a multiway pot, and you are always going to see a flop. If you are first in then there is a chance everyone will fold, which is the optimal result for this type of hand.

2) I don’t play many tournaments these days, and I never played many rebuys. So I’m not really an expert here. But I would always take the rebuy and the add on, because I think it maximizes your chances of finishing in the top 3, which is where all of the money is at. In a rebuy tournament I’m going to be much more willing to take coin flips and try to build up a chip stack during the rebuy period.

Hi, it’s a nice article, but my questions are unrelated to these questions, i tried to find a forum on this site but it doesn’t exist aparently. I think a forum would be a big + for this site.
So my questions:
1. How would you play in PLO8 3456 in late position?
Because when I think about what I would like to flop with these cards is aparently an ace, but event if it does appear do I have chances to make a low, assuming that a lot of people will be holding deuce.
2. How would you strategy vary in a rebuy tournament for PLO8? Would you make the rebuy and add-on? May be you some other tips as well.

Hi tripp,

Yes, I can make a hu sng video. I’ll try to get it done next week.

I rarely play hu cash, usually only in the PLO/PLO8 mix game on Full Tilt. The rake is a big killer in hu cash. But hu sng’s can be very profitable.
